Actor becomes musician, creates fear

Fears are growing for ex-actor Joaquin Phoenix’s health, it seems – what is reassuring is that if he dies, we are certain to hear of it. News is a much clearer business over the festive period as very little happens, so much is made of what does.

He’ll be fine, though. What people forget when discussing his reported lack of personal grooming and weight gain is that Phoenix is now a musician. Looking a bit odd is simply what they do – it’s not like actors, most of whom have to be able to pass for normal at some point. The crazier, the better.
